While conducting a final walkthrough with one of our long-term tenants, Mr. Tenant begins with a little small talk. He asks me about my time in the army. Of course, once he finds out that I simply walked away from the army with “only” five years left for retirement, he looks at me sideways and says, “You’re f*cking crazy, dude”.
Different actions get different results. Mr. Tenant is a typical hard-working American that serves his country and takes care of his family. All he knows is to work hard, get a paycheck, pay the bills, and if there is anything left over, we can buy “stuff”. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this if this is what you choose to do. However, most of us want more including Mr. Tenant. I know this because the more we talked, the more he wanted the lifestyle that my wife and I enjoy.
I’ve realized that I may never be rich with money, but we are super rich in time. Why is this? Because my wife and I actually own our time. I tell all of my clients that I teach how to buy houses, that “you can make more money, but you can never make more time.” Once a moment, an anniversary, a birthday, etc. is gone, it is gone forever. I’ll never again miss any important occasion due to having to work or being deployed.
